This unit is aimed at pharmaceutical representatives and covers the provision of medicines in the National Health Service related to the treatment of respiratory diseases.
Learners will understand the structure and function of the respiratory system and associated diseases.
Learners will study in more detail the conditions of rhinitis, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease as well as upper and lower respiratory infections and the effects of cigarette smoke on the lungs and body.
They will be able to describe medicines available to treat these diseases.
This unit is assessed by a multiple choice exam made up of 50 questions, lasting 45 minutes. Passing it will gain you 5 credits.
Please note that the content in section 4.2.4 of Volume 1 of the learning materials regarding the use of statistics in medicine may be examined in all other units. You should bring a calculator to all exams.
