When you create your personal profile you are required to state the date you started working in a promotional role in the pharmaceutical industry for the purpose of compliance with the Prescription Medicines Code of Practice Clause 16.3. The Code requires that representatives sit the exam within their first year and allows a maximum of 2 years for someone to pass the exam. Once you have exceeded 2 years from the date you started working in a promotional role you will not be able to book an exam unless you have received permission from the PMCPA to be allowed extra time.
If you are not working as a representative this requirement is not relevant to you. If you are not working as a representative, enter the date that you register to use the website as your start date. You will then have 2 years in which to complete the exam. If you need additional time please contact ABPI using the Contact Us form.
Please note that the date you starting working in industry refers to the date upon which you started in a role where you promote medicines and NOT the date when you first promoted medicines.
